Sounds of Nature

The sun was shining brightly today and that inspired me to go on my Power walk. My tunes turned up I started around the walking trail. On the third time around I decided to put my IPod away and listen to the sounds I would hear. There were many.

I always start my walk with prayers. I call this my “God Talk”. When I am done praying and talking I focused on the sounds.

The birds singing so beautifully as if they were telling me “Spring is on its way.”

A few crows were around. The sea gulls seemed to be answering each other. They remind me so much of the Ocean when my Hubby and I lived on the Island.

The sound of children and their laughter touches my heart.

Little girl on her trike and the other child on a squeaky swing.

The pitter patter of a toddler running.

A tiny voice from an elderly woman saying, “Good Morning” to me.

The cars on the road could be heard from a distance.

My footsteps.

The rustling of the leaves.

As I neared the end of my walk I spotted two rabbits, and they had never been seen at this park. An elderly gentlemen and I said a few words about them. I said to him, “Boy oh boy. If there are two, there will soon be more.”  We both chuckled.

When I checked my pedometer, I was pleased I had walked 8002 steps.

I was amazed what I could hear when I really focused.

A memorable walk for me!!

  1. A memorable walk. Thanks to the pedometer that kept count. At the end of life’s walk, may our pedometer reading have figures that will make all say ‘a memorable walk’. Progress is good and the record of it. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Renee, this post serves a very, very important purpose: telling us in evocative detail all the wonders we can hear if we PUT AWAY THE iPOD and L-I-S-T-E-N!!! So pleased you have such a blessed walk!
