Keep up the Motivation

I was at the GYM bright and early this morning and while on the eliptical I thought of how I often hear, ” I have 10 More Pounds to Lose.  Article from Denise Austin.

Q: I’ve lost close to 50 pounds and now that I’m finally down to the last 10 pounds, I’m finding it hard to stay determined. How can I keep up my motivation?

A: Congratulations, you’ve done a great job so far!

The last 10 pounds are usually the hardest to lose, but don’t give up!

The best way to jump-start your metabolism is to add another five minutes to your routine.

Try light walking around the block, toning exercises, even light isometrics at the office during the day. These will all help to speed up that metabolism and burn those extra pounds.

Also, make sure to drink plenty of water and curb snacking in the evening. This will help you get over this last step. Good luck — you’re almost there!

  1. Good tips! Those are likely to work. If they don’t, you may be encountering a phenomenon known as “Metabolic Slowdown”. Essentially, it’s the condition the body goes into after a long duration of calorie restriction. The body can slow down all of its processes so that your metabolism becomes drastically lower and keeps you stuck at your current weight.

I thought this was a great article on it:

Anyway, great blog! Thanks for sharing!

  2. It’s a really tricky one to jump over the last (or perhaps not last) threshold. I tried some weight exercises – they helped to move to next level. Need a new motive now. Thanks for your blog. Alex

  3. Good tips! It helps to read things like this to keep you going. Weight lose is a hard journey but not impossible!

  4. Wow, just as I was pinching up those last little remaining folds of fat! Great encouragement here, and it IS getting easier to drink more water with the weather getting warmer and warmer. And all the walking I am doing, instead of driving, to commute to work locations and perform personal errands is working fabulously well! Substituting a few pieces of raw veggie slices along with diluted green tea in the evenings when I need to finish some writing work is also very helpful.

  5. Hi Renee,

I’ve started my walking again with Copper and always drink a lot of water, so hopefully, that 10 lbs will happily disappear in a couple of months or so. My vice is sugar…chocolate, cookies, etc. and I’m a great baker (I have to admit :) ), but I’m doing well with discipline, so far. I believe it’s all about portion control and not deprivation. Everything in moderation. So wish me luck! And thanks for your continuing wonderful tips! xo

  6. Hi Lauren, Walking is so terrific for sure. Good for you! Yes sugar is in so many foods, not to mention all the yummy baking we do. You are so right. I love to bake and home made is the best. I will bake home made chocolate cookies and not eat a morsel. I know if I have one I will want more so I prefer not to eat any. I do enjoy ice cream in the summer months. I don’t have a real sweet tooth like I did when I was younger. all the best … hugs.. Renee.

Have a fabulous day!
