Never Stop Questioning

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”
– Albert Einstein

About Albert Einstein

The brilliant physicist Albert Einstein became an international icon for his groundbreaking theory of relativity.

He was born in Germany in 1879 and began his seminal work while at the Swiss Patent Office. He later fled the Nazi regime, moving to the United States to teach at Princeton.

In 1921, he won the Nobel Prize. He declined Israel’s invitation to become its president, saying he lacked the necessary people skills. He died in 1955.

Let Others Inspire You!

A Great Way to Get Motivated!

There’s a reason why people like hearing and reading success stories. These feel-good tales are constant proof that others have had similar struggles — and, most important, that they’ve gotten through them!

Especially moving are stories that begin with someone who’s made unhealthy choices that lead to such life-threatening diseases as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, or cancer.

And when that person is a friend or relative, the message is all the more powerful. Fortunately, what these accounts teach us is that by eating right and exercising regularly you do have the power to turn your life around — and prevent these ailments from happening in the first place!

So on those days when you’re lacking willpower, think of those success stories.

That formerly obese 40-year-old mother of three who now looks and feels like she’s 30, that 60-year-old woman who runs marathons, that 55-year-old man who was able to reverse his type 2 diabetes by adjusting his diet and hitting the gym.

They all made it to the other side, often emerging stronger — physically, mentally, and emotionally. That can and will be you!

Try an Office Desk-ercise!

Tension can build up in the neck and shoulders simply from sitting at your desk, and it gets even worse as the long workday drags on.

But did you know that you can stretch at the office without ever even leaving your chair?

I call it “deskercising,” and it’s truly effective!

Stretching encourages those tense muscles to relax and counteracts any tightness from poor posture and tired muscles.

Try doing my Shoulder Rolls, Side Stretch, and Neck Relaxer at your desk — you’ll probably start an office trend!

Wisdom doesn’t automatically come with old age. Nothing does – except wrinkles. It’s true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place. ~ Abigail Van Buren

This beautiful cake baked by my daughter’s best friend. They have known each other since Grade 3. The top layer is chocolate and the bottom layer is coconut with cream filling. I love coconut!

The words chosen by my Hubby. ha ha. Wait till he sees his cake! It is all in good fun and with lots of love. These words have been on many of my cakes since I think I was 30. All the same, the cake was so yummy. Huge thank you to my other “Cindy Lynn”. Thank you to my Hubby, family and friends for being at my Birthday dinner on Saturday night. It meant lots to me. I love all my beautiful cards that still make me tear up when I read them. I high-fived my Hubby when I woke up and said now I was in the “Sixty’s Club”.

Wake Up Beaming!

Chalk up another benefit to going to bed on time.

Not only does getting seven to eight hours of sleep per night reduce your risk of diabetes, protect your heart and lower your stress level, University of Massachusetts scientists say it helps you remember happy experiences more vividly!

Sleep is critical for processing emotionally positive experiences, helping them turn into long-term memories!

The Art of Doing Nothing

I found this article written by Dawn James and found it most interesting and really want to share it with you all. I do some of her tips, although I need to try to do them more often. Enjoy!

Can you imagine yourself, like a teenager, doing nothing? I can. I learned from my son.

What captured my attention at first was the subtle, almost elegant manner in which he arrived home each day, slipped off his back pack and strolled onto the deck in the back yard. Each day after school he would spend half an hour or so just sitting there.

At first with his eyes open, observing the trees, looking at the birds that randomly flew overhead and gazing at the lake in the distance. A few minutes later he would gently close his eyes, with an expression of reverence as the sun’s rays warmed his cheeks.

This was his daily dose of ‘doing nothing’.

This was an “Aha!” moment for me and , thanks to him, I began to master the art of doing nothing three times a day. I learned to change my daily routine and began to appreciate ‘being’ instead of ‘doing’.

In the Morning : How often do we take time out of our busy days to appreciate the magnificence of life, to hold reverence and feel blessed for all we have now?

Instead of jumping out of bed when the alarm went off, I stole an extra five minutes, lying on my back in Shavasana pose and set my intention for the type of day I wanted to create. How will I share my gifts and talents with the world today?

My morning Affirmation: I consciously choose to be peaceful and live in the flow of life today. So be it.

At Lunch Time

I purposely left my wireless devices in my desk and headed to my car for quiet time. This was not the time to be reading, updating my never ending to-do list or checking text messages or voicemail. Instead, I enjoyed a mental break in stillness and in peace—at least for 20 minutes—with the driver’s seat tilted back.

While in my car, I consciously connected with my breath in a rhythmic fashion called belly breathing.

Inhaling for four counts, holding for two counts, exhaling for four counts. Allowing my body to re-establish its natural rhythms while calming my central nervous system. Belly breathing also improves mental clarity. This exercise can be performed several times throughout the day—especially when driving in rush hour traffic.

Another option at lunch time is to go on a walking meditation or take your break at a later time when there is less chatter in the lunch room. You can collect your thoughts and enjoy some reflection time.

Another favorite Affirmation: I choose to enjoy every moment of the day.

In the Evening or Before Bed: Just as I started my day in Shavasana pose, I also ended my day in stillness. I call this winding down gradually.

We have an average 10,000 thoughts per day. Our brains are in ‘beta’ mode, attentive and alert to external stimuli. It is vitally important to unwind the brain and shift from beta wave to alpha and theta wave before we fall asleep.

Take time to reflect and recognize the many blessings you received today. What positive things occurred? What synchronicities did you observe?

Reflect or think about half a dozen things you are grateful for and how each one has affected your life, well being and sense of purpose. Be thankful for being in this present moment in time.

When I take time to enjoy ‘the art of doing nothing’ I develop new levels of self discovery and awareness. I also remember that I have choices.

Do you want to be a human ‘being’ or a human ‘doing’? The choice is yours.
