About Me

Hello~My name is Irene and my nickname is ‘Renee’. I live in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

I married my Best Friend/Soul Mate on August 22, 1970.  We have ‘grown up’ together and share a true bond.

We have two adult children and two Grand Children. We love them all tons!!

I love to keep fit and have a membership at the GYM, and am consistent three times a week. A few times a week I head outdoors for my 5km Run. I take my iPod with me or enjoy listening to the “Sounds of Nature”.

I truly believe if one takes care of themselves the best they can and be “Body Smart” one will feel the benefits from it all.

I try my best to eat smart. I hope to inspire other Baby Boomers to stay fit and try to keep as healthy as possible. It benefits us so much as we age. I choose to use the term getting more mature, and not “old” or “older”.

I am a Spiritual Lady…Believe in God…try my best to always find “a Positive out of a negative”.

My Blog will be a mix of Inspiration, my beliefs, health tips, food tips, fitness tips and who doesn’t like a chuckle now and again. I have chosen to keep my blog post short on Saturday’s and Sunday’s using quotes. I do my utmost to post every single day.

I love quotes and poems. I also believe in God and do not intend to offend anyone. If you do not believe in my ‘God’, think of a ‘Higher Power’.

If you pop in to read or follow my blog I thank you. I do apologize if I forget to thank any of you. There is so much to learn and I only hope to keep improving my blog as I have seen so many awesome blogs.

On a last note. If I should at any time use an image, quote, article, etc. that is copyright material  or you would rather I remove from my blog  please let me know. I have no intention of ever putting anything on my blog that does not belong on it. Thank you.

  2. Thank-you so much for all the visits and ‘likes’ on my blog. You are so kind!!! You sure are an inspiration to live healthy!

  3. I just had to write to congratulate you on 42 years of marriage to your soulmate and best friend! What an awesome journey it must have been. Thank you for the inspiration and I wish you and your dear family all the happiness in the world!

    • What a very nice comment!! Thank you very much. Like I always say, “We have ‘grown up’ together”. We had our ups and downs and only grew closer and stronger through all the twists and turns on our path of life. :)

    • Thank you so very much Lauren. I am deeply touched!! Yes, I do accept!! Thank you for thinking about me. I am really new to the blogging world and am still learning and want to do so much more. You have always inspired me and am happy to have met you. hugz. :)

      • You’re very welcome, Renee! As I mentioned, we’ve only known each other for a short time, but I’ve already felt inspired by your posts and I definitely feel cheerful when I leave your blog! So, congrats to you, too! :)

      • You have so touched my heart! Thank you. I will post this tomorrow, with me still learning it takes a bit of time to get it all together. lol Do I answer the same 10 questions you did? :)

      • I believe you can make up your own or use my questions. The post from which I took mine from was modified, but if my memory serves me right, then what I’m telling you is true…I would say either make up your own or use mine, either way is fine. Sorry, my brain is just a tad fried! :) Hugs back!

  4. Hi! It looks like you started blogging about the same time I did. Congratulations on all your awards!
Also on being so fit. We lived in Quebec for 5 years; four in Montreal ; one in Acton-Vale. It seemed like “les femmes franophones” are generally much more fitness-conscious than we “les anglaises.” I’m from beautiful-but-flat Sask.

  5. Hi Christine. Thank you. Nice to meet another ‘Canadian Girl’. How do I see your blog? I can’t seem to able to see anything but your gravatar?? Yes I am enjoying ‘blogging’ and having fun learning more and more. Have a super day. :)

  7. Hi Renee! I use a program called Picasa http://picasa.google.com/ to edit all my photos. It’s a basic, simple program and you can just download it for free. This same program also contains a text function which I use to label my photos. I hope you find it useful and I can’t wait to see your photos! Let me know if it works! Hugs, Shaz

    • HI Shaz (I notice that is how you wrote your name..I like that *tee hee*) .Thank you so much. Okay, I used to use Picasa many years ago. I didn’t realize it had so much to offer, will download that later. Just finished my workout and long walk, time to shower and get on with my day. hugz. Renee. :)

  8. You’ve definitely inspired a fellow boomer to think more carefully about health matters from now on. I have to thank Sharon in Finland for leading me here! GF

  9. Hi Renee,
It is my turn to share the awards with you! I am nominating you for the Liebster Award. You can check out the details at my blog. Please don’t feel any pressure to accept – only if you would like too :) Have a great day!

    • Mary, thank you so much for your kindness. I am honored. I am so behind on my awards. It has been raining awards on me. ha ha. I have 4 that were given to me by Suzy and have been working on my post for awhile now. LIfe gets busy and then I feel badly that I don’t have my post up as of yet. I will though. :) thank you again. hugz, Renee.

      • Don’t feel obligated to reply! As much fun as the awards are to help share our blogs, they can be a lot of work and I worry about boring the regular non-blogging readers too. So, I understand!!! Last time when I had a couple of awards back to back, I just updated the list I already had going.

      • Your so sweet. I do appreciate them all. It will just take time for me to get it all done. I will send you an email. :)

  10. I’m so glad I found your blog this morning. Can’t remember how i got here – but have enjoyed the visit. I, too, work and play to keep fit and as I age I see its importance more and more. My daughter recently had her in-laws visit from New York and shared with me afterwards that she was so surprised at how little they could do physically – walking, hiking, etc. Easily out of breath. Hurting in joints. They are about 5 years older than we are – and while she didn’t say this in a negative or judgmental way about her in-laws, she made the observation that she wants to be like her mom and remain active so she can “do things” when she’s older. That meant a lot to me – you know – to be, what did you call it? Fitspiration? To be that for one of my kids makes a mom thankful. I’m going to subscribe so I can keep up with you.

    • Hi Barb. That story sounded just like a conversation my daughter and I have often had. Yes we can be someone’s “Fitspiration”. Good for you!! I feel I can be fit and although I am looking at knee replacement surgery in my near future I don’t let it stop me. I am ‘body smart’ and if I get a flare up I just slow down. I love fitness. Have a great day. I will go see you at your blog. Renee :)

  12. This is great ! I now follow you because you are really worth reading…it’s fun and you clearly love what you’re doing with this blog. Great articles, to say the least. You’re obviously busy with this website, but I’d be honored if you’d stop by my website http://www.noulteriormotive.com and find out about me and read some my “stuff”…most are pretty short, with some pictures I’ve taken. If you like music, I’ve even have some articles with music. I’m still learning too, I also started in January this year shortly after I retired, or lets say instead, changed lanes on the highway of life… Please, keep writing. I’m looking forward to reading more.

    • Thank you so much. I will head over there as soon as I am done here. So happy to hear you are enjoying my blog as yes I am having fun with it. It is nice to do something different when one retires, keeps us “young”. lol Have a super day. Renee :)

  13. Hi Ms Renee,

What an inspiring blog you have, I am delighted to read your posts. I love quotes too and occasionally can write poem (when inspired :-) . Thank you for sharing your beliefs and I wish you good health always!

    Regards,
    Mafey

    • Thank you so much. We often chuckle on how “we really have grown up together”. We both realize now that we were just “Kids”. Yes, most grateful we weathered the storms and are stronger for it. Thanks again. :) Renee

  14. We were married August 1st, 1970, so got you beat by three weeks. You WERE young –and I was even younger. :) How do the years roll by so fast? Hope you’re having a week-long birthday celebration.

  15. Your inspirational attitude towards life is surely encouraging! I’d like to invite you to my blog. I live with the faith of God being on my side, and my blog revolves around such spiritual matters! I hope you find the time and find it interesting! :)

  18. Hi again Renée, Congratulations on “hitting the mark” for your blog! Your intention of inspiration is so obviously, massively successful; the joy literally jumps off of the (blog)page and even more so here in the reaction from your readers: )
LOVE the photo of you and your DH blowing bubbles – so precious – full of love and the joy of living. Guessing from the gear you’re “out west” somewhere. Sending love and good weather (of whatever sort you need; ) Deb
P.S. Wasn’t that asphalt kinda hard on the butt?; )

    • P.P.S. LOVE the black and white. My compliments to your Photographer.

      Hugs.

      • awe Deb, you are so kind! Thank you so much. I am so happy to hear you are enjoying my blog. There is still more I would like to do and more to learn. All in good time…. hugs. :)

    • HI Deb, no worries on the duplicate post. I am sure I have done it a time or two. ha ha. Thank you so much for the lovely comments on my photographer. I was so nervous and nearly canceled and Of course am so happy I didn’t.
I wouldn’t of wanted to sit on the asphalt for too much longer than I had to. lol
We are in British Columbia and we had so much rain and now it is the opposite. It has been too HOT and the humidex is high.
Have a great day. I had errands to do earlier, will go over to your blog right now. :)

  19. You have such a wonderful blog! As someone who writes a lot about Generation Y, I truly appreciate members of other generations writing about similar ideals. You give me (and others) great role models to follow.

  20. Renee, I wished I’ve found your blog sooner… so much inspiration here, it’s so heartwarming. You just made my day brighter today after all the gloominess I had to deal with earlier… and I just want to say.. Congratulations on you and your other half’s strong bond after all these years.

I’m marrying my only best friend, too.

  21. HI. I am so happy you visited my blog and following too! Thank-you for the lovely comments. YOU are so kind. It is great that we connected with you sharing all that “wealth of information”. I am so happy for you that you too are marrying your best friend. Awesome. :) Renee
